Integrating Streaming Features into Jitsi Meet Admin Panel (JAMP)

Integrating Streaming Features into Jitsi Meet Admin Panel (JAMP)

Introduction

As online meetings and events continue to grow, platforms like Jitsi Meet have become go-to solutions for connecting people virtually. But like most video conferencing tools, Jitsi Meet faces challenges when handling large sessions. Things start to get tricky when more than 500 participants are in a meeting. That’s where Jitsi Meet Admin Panel (JAMP) Version 2 comes in.

With JAMP Version 2, we’ve added a live-streaming feature that lets you broadcast meetings to platforms like YouTube. This means you can still host huge events without worrying about system overloads or performance issues. Instead of being limited by the number of participants in the meeting, you can now stream to thousands of viewers smoothly.

In this post, I’ll guide you through why we needed this update, how it works, and the steps you can follow to get live streaming up and running in JAMP.

Challenges in Jitsi Meet for Large Sessions

Jitsi Meet is a fantastic tool for hosting virtual meetings, but things can get complicated when too many people join a single session. When you have over 500 participants, you might start seeing issues like:

Slower performance – Everything just starts lagging.

Camera and audio problems – Some users might not be able to turn on their cameras or be heard properly.

Overall disruption – These issues can cause a lot of frustration, especially in large events like webinars or town hall meetings.

Why We Created JAMP Version 2

To solve these issues, we developed JAMP Version 2, an updated version of the Jitsi Meet Admin Panel.

The biggest upgrade is Live streaming. Now, instead of everyone joining the meeting, you can stream it live to platforms like YouTube. This means you can still have as many viewers as you want, without worrying about overloading the system. The result is smooth, uninterrupted events, no matter the size of your audience.
