## What is Apache Superset?

Apache Superset is an Apache 2.0 business intelligence and data visualisation platform. It suits teams comfortable with SQL who want deep charting, dashboards and enterprise sign-in without paying per user.

## How to set up a self-hosted Superset server

1.  ### Launch the stack

    Subscribe on AWS Marketplace and launch the CloudFormation stack with your domain and Superset username and password.

2.  ### Point your domain at it

    After 5-10 minutes, create a DNS record with the PublicIp from the stack outputs.

3.  ### Sign in

    Open the DashboardUrl and log in with the username and password you set.

4.  ### Connect data and chart it

    Add a database connection, explore it in SQL Lab and build your first dashboard.

What is Apache Superset?

Is Apache Superset free?

Yes. It is an Apache Software Foundation project under Apache 2.0. On AWS you pay for the instance and any Meetrix software fee shown on the listing.

Can I connect my existing databases?

Yes. Superset has connectors for 40+ databases, inside your VPC or elsewhere, and you can install extra drivers on the instance.

Is Superset a real Tableau alternative?

For most dashboard work, yes: 50+ chart types, cross-filtering and row-level security. Tableau still has the more polished authoring experience for power users.

Does Superset include SSO?

Yes. SAML and LDAP are part of the free project.

How do I sign in?

Use the Superset username and password you set as stack parameters, at the DashboardUrl from the stack outputs.

Which instance size should I choose?

t3a.large is the recommended starting point. Scale up, or move to a multi-node setup, as usage grows.

How do I upgrade?

Back up your server data, remove the old stack and launch the new version from AWS Marketplace.
