## What is changedetection.io?

changedetection.io is an open-source tool, licensed under Apache 2.0, that checks the web pages you choose on a schedule and alerts you when their content changes. Teams use it for competitor pages, price drops, restocks, changelogs and public notices.

## How to set up a self-hosted changedetection.io server

1.  ### Launch the stack

    Subscribe on AWS Marketplace and launch the CloudFormation stack with your domain and an admin password.

2.  ### Point your domain at it

    After 5-10 minutes, create a DNS record with the PublicIp from the stack outputs.

3.  ### Sign in

    Open the DashboardUrl and enter the admin password. There is no username.

4.  ### Add your first watch

    Paste a page address, click Watch, and add where alerts should go under Settings.

## changedetection.io FAQ

What is changedetection.io?

An open-source tool that watches web pages for changes and alerts you when they happen. It can track a whole page or just part of it.

Is changedetection.io free?

Yes. It is open source under Apache 2.0. On AWS you pay for the instance and the Meetrix software fee shown on the listing, with no per-watch limits.

Which instance size should I choose?

t3a.small is enough for a typical set of text-based watches. For hundreds of pages or very frequent checks, choose t3a.medium or larger.

How do I sign in?

changedetection.io uses a password-only login. Enter the AdminPassword you set when creating the CloudFormation stack.

Where can alerts go?

Through the Apprise library: email, Slack, Discord, Telegram, Microsoft Teams, webhooks and many more. Set them up under Settings or per watch.

Does it set up SSL?

Yes, automatically when your domain is hosted on Route 53. Otherwise, run the certificate script on the server as the developer guide shows.

How do I upgrade?

Export your watches, remove the old stack and launch the new version from AWS Marketplace.
