Drop an audio or video file into the tool above, or click it to choose a file. 2. Pick **Full** to remove as much noise as possible, or **Gentle** to keep more of the original sound. 3. Play the before and after clips side by side, then click **Download WAV**. ## Common audio noise removal problems and fixes - **The voice sounds thin, watery or robotic:** the noise was loud compared with the voice, so the model had to guess. Run the original again with **Gentle**, or re-record closer to the microphone. - **Music sounds worse, not better:** the model is trained on speech and treats much of a musical signal as noise. Use this tool on voice recordings only. - **Some noise is still there:** RNNoise handles steady noise like fans, hum and clicks best. Traffic, other people talking and sudden loud sounds are much harder, and the fix is a quieter room or a closer microphone. - **"Couldn't read an audio track" error:** the file has no audio track, or uses a codec your browser can't decode. Try a different file or a different browser. - **The clip is rejected as too long:** clips over 20 minutes are blocked to avoid crashing the tab. Split the recording into shorter pieces and clean each one. - **The download is much bigger than my original:** the output is uncompressed WAV. Convert it to a smaller format afterwards if you need to share it. - **Nothing happens after clicking Remove noise:** make sure a file is selected, and that your browser supports the Web Audio API and WebAssembly. You can drop in an MP4, MOV or WebM and the tool will clean its audio track, but the download is an audio file only. To put the cleaned sound back on the video you need a video editor. The model is trained on speech, so it treats instruments and singing as noise to some degree and can make music sound thin or watery. Use it for voice recordings, calls, podcasts and lectures. Why does my voice sound a bit robotic or muffled afterwards? That happens when the noise is loud compared with the voice, and the model has to guess what is speech. Try the Gentle setting, which mixes some of the original back in, or re-record closer to the microphone if you can. Why is the download a WAV and not an MP3? WAV is lossless, so your cleaned audio is not compressed a second time. The files are larger, roughly 11 MB per minute for stereo. Clips longer than 20 minutes are blocked, because holding that much decoded audio in memory can crash a browser tab. There's no fixed size limit below that. For longer recordings, split them into shorter pieces and clean each one. Does this work on mobile phones? Yes, in recent Chrome and Safari, for short clips. A phone has less memory than a computer, so a long recording may be slow or fail. Try a shorter clip or a desktop browser. Does Jitsi Meet remove noise during calls? Yes.
